An epoxy floor coating system for industrial applications Description
An epoxy coating system which is odourless, slightly elastic and exhibits excellent mechanical strength. The system comprises:
- MASTERTOP PRIMER 2 - Is a solvent free, two component, low viscosity epoxy preconditioning coat/primer, which stabilises the prepared substrate; acts as the bonding media for the aggregate key, and isolates subsequent PU coatings from the alkalinity of concrete, which is known to assist degradation of polyurethanes. MASTERTOP PRIMER 2 exhibits a high degree of capillary-pore penetration and will prevent rising damp from reaching subsequent coatings.
- MASTERTOP TOP COAT 46E - Is a solvent-free, slightly elastic, pigmented two component epoxy coating which is odourless and has excellent mechanical properties.
Primary uses
MASTERTOP 1112 provides a durable, hard-wearing seamless surface. Being odourless and non-tainting the system is particularly suitable for use in industrial and commercial kitchens and food preparation or manufacturing industries. Also for Car parks, engineering workshops and any application requiring a tough hardwearing coating system.

MASTERTOP TOP COAT 46E - properties
MASTERTOP TOP COAT 46E is odourless, easy to apply and exhibits excellent mechanical strength when fully cured.
The thixotropic nature of the material is formulated to cover broadcasted surfaces and does not run off the tips of the grains. MASTERTOP TOP COAT 46E is resistant to water, sea and waste water, as well as being extremely resistant to a variety of alkalis, diluted acids, brine, mineral oils, lubricants and fuels.

Guide to application
Application temperature:
The quality of the final coating is dependent on the substrate and the material temperatures. We recommend a substrate temperature of min. +15°C and max. +30°C. The optimal material temperature is +20°C to +25°C.
Surface preparation:
The surface to be coated must be clean and dry, free of laitance, oil, grease or any substance that may impair adhesion.
The preferred methods of preparation are; captive blasting, high pressure water jetting, surface grinding or similar. Weak or damaged concrete must be removed, and replaced with a suitable repair compound from the Emaco or Concresive range of products.
Maximum moisture content 5% by weight of concrete.
Conditioning:
Cement bound substrates.
The substrate must be sealed using MASTERTOP PRIMER 2. Mix the A and B components of MASTERTOP PRIMER 2 together according to the datasheet.
Using a suitable roller, apply the sealer at the rate of 0.2-0.3kg/m² depending on substrate profile and porosity. Scatter SRA No. 3 into the wet surface at the minimum rate of 0.5kg/m². Allow to cure for 5 hours at 20°C.
This will give a slip finish resistant.
MASTERTOP TOP COAT 46E:
MASTERTOP TOP COAT 46E is supplied in the correct proportions of component A (resin) and component B (hardener).
Mixing instruction:
Prior to mixing the temperature of the materials should ideally be between 20-25°C. Pour component B into the container of component A and ensure that container B is emptied completely. To achieve a homogeneous mix, both components must be thoroughly mixed with a mixing device at about 300 rpm. Ensure that the mixing device reaches side and bottom areas of the mixing vessel. Mix until the blend is homogeneous and streak free.
Do not use the material out of container supplied, but pour the mix into another container and remix for 1 minute. After mixing; MASTERTOP TOP COAT 46E is applied to the pre-treated substrate with a paint-roller. On horizontal surfaces we recommend a foam rubber squeegee in order to distribute the material evenly, followed by a finish with a paint-roller.
Cleaning agent
Re-usable tools must be cleaned carefully with Solvent No. 2.
Storage
Store in original drums, under dry conditions and a temperature range from 15-25°C. Do not expose to direct sunlight. Under these conditions the material has a shelf life of 12 months.
Safety precautions
For further information, a material safety data sheet is available to the specialist applicator.
