CONIDECK ME

A polyurethane based multi-component system for car park decking where waterproofing and superior crack bridging properties are required.
  • MASTERTOP PRIMER 2 - Is a solvent free, two component, low viscosity epoxy preconditioning coat/primer, which stabilises the prepared substrate; acts as the bonding media for the aggregate key, and isolates subsequent PU coatings from the alkalinity of concrete, which is known to assist degradation of polyurethanes. MASTERTOP PRIMER 2 exhibits a high degree of capillary-pore penetration and will prevent rising damp from reaching subsequent coatings.
  • MASTERTOP BOND AGENT 10 – Is a single component, moisture curing, polyurethane based primer. It has excellent resistance to dilute acids and alkalis and is rapid drying. MASTERTOP BOND AGENT 10 is used as a primer/adhesion promoter under various MASTERTOP coating materials.
  • CONIPUR 255 – Is a polyurethane-based, solvent-free, two-component coating compound with excellent mechanical characteristics. CONIPUR 255 has excellent tensile strength at very high elongation values, good wear resistance and extremely high resistance to tearing.
  • MASTERTOP TOP COAT 40P - Is a one component PUR coating compound with a low solvent content suitable for, among other things, top seals in parking decks. It provides UV-resistant, hard-elastic surfaces which are resistant to chemicals and abrasion.

Guide to application

Preparation:

Remove laitance, weak or friable concrete and all contaminants that could affect the bond to the substrate.

Suitable preparation includes light grit blasting, surface grinding etc. Surface defects should be repaired using CONCRESIVE 2200 or other suitable repair compounds from the CONCRESIVE or EMACO range.

Priming:

Mix and apply MASTERTOP PRIMER 2 surface conditioner to the prepared dust free surface at approximately 0.2-0.3kg/m². Into the wet primer, scatter SRA No. 3 aggregate to obtain a fully sanded surface (1.5-3kg/m²).

Allow to cure for 5 hours at 20°C.

Application of MASTERTOP BOND AGENT 10:

MASTERTOP BOND AGENT 10 should be evenly applied by airless spray equipment or with a roller. Ponding must be avoided. If necessary it can be thinned by the addition of up to 30% xylene or ethyl acetate. It is not recommended to apply MASTERTOP BOND AGENT 10 at substrate temperatures lower than 4°C and higher than 35°C.

The substrate should be capable of bearing loads, clean and dry and free from oil and grease and other contaminants which may cause poor adhesion.

Application per coat 0.06-0.1kg/m²

Application and processing of CONIPUR 255:

The coating CONIPUR 255 serves mainly to seal concrete and as an elastic crack-bridging coating. It is used to produce wear-resistant coatings; in car parks and waterproofing applications.

Due to its high reactivity, the mixing of the coating components must be effected with specialised equipment (consult your local BASF office).

By spraying with high pressure equipment, good looking surfaces are created by fine spray mist, whereas by dispersing with air the sprayed surface becomes rougher. According to the need and application of the coating.

The density is 1.0gm/cm³ when spraying.

It is possible to spray the CONIPUR 255 wet on wet up to some centimetres thickness if required. The high reactivity as well as the setting, starting after 10-15 seconds, allows a problem-free coating of vertical and over-head surfaces.

It is possible to walk on coated surfaces after 15-20 minutes.

The final setting is finished after several days. Final setting is prolonged at low temperatures (below +12°C).

The processing is problem-free at temperatures between +12°C and 40°C with relative atmospheric humidity not higher than 80%.

Adhesion

The CONIPUR 255 has good adhesive properties on concrete, fibre-glass polyester, foams, metals and plastic.

To find out whether the adhesion is sufficient for various base courses, tests should be carried out. Improved adhesion may be achieved by applying suitable primers.

Good adhesion is gained within 4 hours when coating in several layers. When exceeding this limit, primers shall be used prior to coating the next layer.

Setting of the intercoat primer is by air humidity and by evaporation of the solvent. Setting therefore depends on ambient weather conditions.

Application of MASTERTOP TOP COAT 40P:

MASTERTOP TOP COAT 40P should be stirred before use to ensure uniformity of colour.

Apply by roller, trowel or airless spray to the primed tack free surface.

Apply at the rate of 0.3-0.8kg/m² per coat. MASTERTOP TOP COAT 40P can be applied as a single coat, or as a multi coat sandwich system incorporating aggregates to give a slip resistant finish. When applying as a top coat or part of a multi coat system, do not exceed the maximum overcoating times of the previous coating.

Always apply the first coat at 0.3-0.4kg/m², to eliminate pin holing.

Do not apply when the humidity exceeds 90%. Ensure that the substrate temperature is 3°C higher than the dew point.
