 Improve, Protect & Repair

The challenges of today's construction industry increasingly demand materials that ensure long-term equilibrium between the performance requirements of a structure on the one hand, and economics, quality, safety, aesthetics and the environment on the other.

At the core of BASF Construction Chemicals business philosophy is development of solutions to Improve, Protect and Repair concrete, whilst maintaining this balance.

The primary business of BASF Construction Chemicals is the supply of liquid concrete admixtures to ready-mix and site batching plants, precast yards and shotcrete application companies.

BASF Construction Chemicals supplies over 30 million litres annually to regional concrete producers. In addition to standard superplasticisers and retarders essential for the efficient handling, placing and ultimate performance of concrete, BASF Construction Chemicals are able to provide unique solutions to enhance the durability of concrete structures and thereby, reduce life cycle costs.

Other systems will inhibit corrosion or enable the user to eliminate waste associated with returned concrete and re-use wash-water. Rheodynamic concrete, an enhanced self-compacting concrete and the Zero Energy System for precast operators are innovations providing tangible cost savings and environmental benefits.

Market segments for concrete admixtures, concrete repair & CP systems, performance flooring, waterproofing, engineered joints and underground construction receive the focused support of experienced system specialists. Other key areas of activity include solutions for precision load bearing grouts, anchoring, bonding, and tile fixing ancillaries, corrosion control coatings, concrete curing and mould release agents.

 Underground Construction

BASF Construction Chemicals have developed expertise and earned a global reputation for excellence and innovation in the underground construction (UGC) sector.

Growing concern for environmental issues and the progressive reduction in availability of urban land makes underground construction of public utilities and transportation systems more and more pressing. There is currently a worldwide construction boom for metro, railway, and road tunnels, as well as caverns that accommodate sophisticated installations such as hydroelectric power plants and for strategic storage of hydrocarbons.

The parallel technological development in tunneling methods and related products and equipment enables such demanding projects to be realized independent of the geological environment.

This means greater freedom for the engineer who is able to locate projects according to the requirements of its users and not to those of the surrounding soil and rock conditions.

BASF Construction Chemicals has been instrumental in bringing about new, more efficient tunneling methods that, in addition to meeting project requirements, reduce overall investment costs by substantially increasing the pace at which a UGC project can be completed. Examples of this are in the development of new admixture Systems such as Delvocrete, Meyco TCC technology, alkali-free accelerators, internal curing, and the Rheocem pre-injection system, which provides tangible cost benefits to owners, contractors and operations managers.

Above all, BASF Construction Chemicals is a reliable partner whose products and equipment are supported by professionals committed to providing a quality, superior service as their highest priority.
